About

I’m a computer nerd, audio enthusiast, builder, reader and dreamer. Also a budding engineer, roboticist, writer and philosopher. I am a lifelong student, regularly reading and learning about life, philosophy, history and tech. I am always curious about how and why things work the way they do. I believe fulfillment comes from learning, creating and building, and sharing the best of what we learn with others.

I have several years of experience running my own personal Linux servers and am currently expanding that knowledge to work professionally in Linux system administration, studying for Linux certification. The most rewarding aspect of working with computer systems and robotics is being faced with a challenge, finding the answers to solve that challenge (through searching and reading, and trial and error), and then watching the system you built come to life. Oh, and then watching it do what it was designed to do!

I reached the point where I am now by working various jobs over the years (supermarket, U.S. Army, factories, warehouses, sales, repairing computers) and always working on my education (A.A.S. in Computer Information Systems, B.S.E. in Electrical Engineering & MBA). Along the way I have always been curious and searching, although it has not always been clear what I was searching for. I’m still learning as I go, but what I’m learning is that you create meaning out of what you have or find, sharing with others, and getting to know people from different backgrounds. Don’t take (most) things too seriously and have fun every chance you get. And never stop learning.
